Dundee Art Society’s Art 125 Exhibition

Dundee Art Society’s Art 125 Exhibition is currently open daily at the Discovery Point Café Gallery.

The society is celebrating its 125th year this year, and this show is dedicated to displaying the rich variety of talent, endowed on the city by their current members.

It includes an eclectic mix of mostly realist styles, some abstract for variety and mixed media works.

Members of Dundee Art Society range from professional artists to the majority of amateur artists, and the student; the works shown vary tremendously and provide something for every viewing preference, with works in watercolour, oil, gouache, pastel and mixed media including glass.

Entry is free of charge.

Art for All in the West End

Art for All  : Painting on Tuesday with Liz Dulley at Dundee Art Society’s Roseangle Gallery.

Liz offers advice hints and tips to help improve painting and drawing skills.

Each week, Liz will demonstrate a technique appropriate for individuals in the class.   Students are then free to work on their own painting or drawing or practice the technique demonstrated.   Individual help is offered throughout the evening.    Liz is a watercolour painter but welcomes any media.

Dundee Art Society

Yesterday evening, I had the pleasure of opening Dundee Art Society’s summer exhibition and presenting the Roseangle Cup and other awards in its schools’ competition and its McCartney Awards.

The photographs below are the presentations to Rachel Cameron of Craigie High School, winner of the Roseangle Cup and to Harry McGregor, well-known West End-based artist, one of the McCartney Award winners. Harry is very kindly undertaking the official opening of the West End Fun Day on Magdalen Green on 13th June – more on that during the forthcoming week!
