Getting things done – Colinton Place and Saggar Street #dundeewestend

We have recently had complaints about a number of potholes in Colinton Place and Saggar Street.

We therefore reported these to the council’s Roads Maintenance Partnership to ensure these are repaired and received the following helpful response :

“Thank you for your report.   Repairs have been ordered.”

Utility Box – Colinton Place/Saggar Street

Last month I mentioned that, following the walkabout round the Pentland area with council officers, I had reported paint vandalism to a utility box at Colinton Place/Saggar Street to British Telecom – see right.

I am pleased to now report that BT has confirmed it will have this issue resolved.

Road surface improvements

Yesterday, I took the opportunity to take a look at the completed road surfaces in Abbotsford Street (east end), Pentland Crescent, Loganlee Terrace and Colinton Place that were recently subject to improvements.

They look a lot better but I have fed back to the City Engineer and Tayside Contracts that the contractor must return to undertake some ‘snagging’ works – for example, where a parked vehicle meant a patch of road was missed.

Good news – road resurfacing in the West End

I have welcomed news that several roads in the West End Ward including Abbotsford Street, Westgrove Avenue, Colinton Place, Loganlee Terrace and Pentland Crescent are to be resurfaced next month.

The condition of these local roads are in poor shape and resurfacing of them to a good standard will be welcomed by local residents.    I am continuing to campaign for improvements for several other local roads including Hillcrest Road, which is in an extremely poor condition.   I have asked for it to be included in the 2012/13 roads resurfacing programme.

The work on Abbotsford Street, Westgrove Avenue, Colinton Place, Loganlee Terrace and Pentland Crescent will be undertaken in the week commencing 16th April – the resurface work takes approximately one day to apply and traffic is managed by a stop/go system during the work.

Colinton Place potholes

I had a letter in last night’s Evening Telegraph, agreeing with a resident who had complained about the really bad potholes in Colinton Place.   I had reported this problem to the City Council and, perhaps ironically, last night, a constituent e-mailed me as follows :

“Hi Fraser,
Just to let you know that the rest of the pot holes in Colinton Place have been filled today. Hopefully the good weather will continue and the pot holes won’t come back any time soon.”

I am of the view that the road really needs proper resurfacing and asked the City Council about this.   I am advised :

“Colinton Place will be considered for possible inclusion in the 2011/ 2012 resurfacing programme – however the programme is still to be confirmed. I will update you once more information is available.”
